KFAS has organized two workshops during the period February 7-9 and February 12-14 2017, on “research capacity building”, in collaboration with the British Council in Kuwait. The workshops aimed at developing the writing skills of researchers in developing research projects and scientific research papers.
Contents of the workshops were designed particularly to suit early career researchers, in addition to the more experienced researchers on scientific research. The workshops also provided an enabling venue for the enhancement of effective communication among researchers through interactive activities.
The workshops, hosted by the Foundation for three days each, come within a series of activities initiated at the onset of this year based on KFAS new strategy for the years 2017-2021, which aims in particular at building research capacities. The interactive workshops targeted early career researchers, while future workshops will be directed towards more experienced researchers to hone their skills and improve their performance in scientific publishing and in preparation of research proposals, in cooperation with the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
The workshops were conducted by a professional expert from the United Kingdom over the course of three days in each workshop. The workshops covered the basics of writing research papers, preparation of scientific research abstracts, and research proposals to improve and increase rates of scientific publication.
The British Council, in cooperation with the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, has organized similar workshops during the past two years under the Council's strategy to enhance the scientific and cultural relations between the United Kingdom and the scientific community in the GCC countries.
