About Us
Kuwait Foundation for the
Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) is a private, non-profit
organization, established by an Amiri Decree issued on
December, 12th 1976 (Thul-Hijjah, 21st
1396 AH).
KFAS is managed and
administered by a Board of Directors (BOD), chaired by
H.H. the Amir of the State of Kuwait. The Board is
comprised of six members appointed by H.H for a period
of three years.
KFAS receives financial
contributions by the Kuwaiti Shareholding Companies,
amounting to 1% of the net annual profit.
The
Board of Directors appoints a Director General who
manages the scientific, administrative and financial
activities of KFAS and monitors the implementation of
the policies set by BOD.
