Since its independence in 1961, the State of Kuwait has made outstanding achievements in a magnitude of scientific areas, establishing it as it a modern beacon for innovation that rivals it's counterparts in across the globe. With the understanding of the crucial role that scientific advancement plays in the wellbeing of a nation, and to facilitate the pursuit of knowledge Kuwait, several initiatives have been enacted, in both the public and private sectors alike.

Scientific research and the venues that promote such activities have been at the forefront of Kuwait's long term plan. This is evident in the establishment of world-class universities, research organizations, and youth development programs.   

Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), is one of the scientific institutions established in the State of Kuwait, to promote scientific research and encourage creativity in various areas across the scientific spectrum. The establishment of KFAS came in 1976, under the sponsorship of His Highness the late Amir Jaber Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, May God Bless Him, in collaboration with a number of ambitious parties, who supported the Amir's initiative.

The vision that brought KFAS into existence is still thriving today. It is guided and supported by His Highness Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. As Chairman of the foundation, His Highness has continued to support the progression of fruitful activities in the organization, with the goal of positioning Kuwait as a conduit for scientific innovation and development.

The Board of Directors has outlined a set of primary objectives to be carried out. These objectives include:

·    To provide relevant information sessions to pursuers to knowledge.

·    To promote the advancement of science with minimal bureaucracy. 

·    To endow scientists with research funding and publication.

·    To recognize, honor, and reward exceptional contributions.

In an effort to be a more dynamic and evolved organization, the management team at KFAS has recently come together to create and communicate a new vision. At KFAS, we are excited about the changes to come, and consider ourselves to be very fortunate to be guiding Kuwait into a prosperous and thriving, world-class scientific hub.
