• Which area of research does KFAS support?
  KFAS supports research in five different areas:

1. Social Sciences and Humanities.

2. Biological Sciences.

3. Medicine Sciences.

4. Natural Sciences.

5. Engineering Sciences and Technology.

• Is there a specific format for the research proposal?
  Yes, see proposal format for details on this subject.

• Does KFAS give research grants to individuals?
  KFAS does not give research grant to individuals at the current time. For more information, see research grant.

• What type of prizes does KFAS have?
  KFAS has four prizes:

1. Kuwait Prize

2. Kuwait Book Fair Prize

3. Best Research Prize

4. Scientific Production Prize

Review Process

• Who reviews Research Proposals?
  All submitted proposals will be first subjected to in-house review to ensure its compliance to KFAS policies.  The proposal will then be subjected to scientific review done by an approved KFAS referee who specialized in the area of the submitted proposal see research proposal review criteria for more information on the subject.

• Will Applicants (Project Leaders) receive copies of the review?
  Yes, except the names of any other identifying information of the reviewers.

• How does KFAS select referee?
  Based on the nature and complexity of the proposed proposal, KFAS selects referees from local and international scientists who specialize in the same area of science.

Salaries and Budget

• Is it possible to request additional fund for the project activities?
  Yes, see Request for Additional Fund for more information.

• Does KFAS provide fund for travel during the course of the project?
  KFAS provides funds for travel upto maximum KD 1,000 a year if the project activities needs such travel.

• Does KFAS provide fund to publish project results?
  Yes, KFAS provides funds for printing.  In addition, KFAS publishes all Final Reports of completed projects in a book format.
