Kuwait Book Fair
Prize
The National Council of
Culture, Arts and Literature holds an annual Kuwait Book
Fair during the month of November. The Fair is intended
to promote interaction among readers, writers,
translators, publishers and to encourage the trading and
marketing of authored and translated books.
The
Prizes :
To encourage authors,
translators and publishers in Arab countries in all
areas of knowledge and to further support the
development of writing, translation and publication, the
Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences awards
the following prizes to books exhibited in the fair:

An annual prize
for the best-authored book about
Kuwait,
-
Two
annual prizes in the field of sciences: one for
the best-authored book in Arabic and another for
the best book translated into Arabic,
-
Two
annual prizes in the area of arts, literature
and humanities: one for the best authored book
and another for the best book translated into
Arabic,
-
One
annual prize for the best-authored book for Arab
children.
Each Prize comprises a cash
sum of K.D. 5000 (Five Thousand Kuwaiti Dinars), KFAS
shield and a certificate of recognition. KFAS also
awards K.D. 2000 (Two Thousand Kuwaiti Dinars) to the
publisher of each of the winning book.
Requirements for the Prize
Books nominated for the
Prize must satisfy the following conditions:

Must be distinguished in its own area of
specialization,

Must be written in classical Arabic,
-
Must be lucid and accurate both in scientific
and linguistic terms,

Must be well printed and published and
should not have been awarded a prize by any
other institution,
-
Must be published in its first edition in one
year prior to the prize year.
