OIP Overview

The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences has been establishing programs with internationally renowned organizations and universities in U.S.A., U.K. and Europe.

The objective of establishing such programs is viewed as an important catalyst for the strategy of advancement of science and technology transfer to Kuwait and the Gulf region.   In the process of strengthening its ties with the well-known academic and scientific organizations around the world, KFAS aimed, among other means to facilitate the communication process between decision-makers from Kuwait amongst themselves and with others; this practice melted the barriers for better problem solving.

Through all the programs KFAS initiated, the basic aim has been to provide an opportunity to broaden and deepen the knowledge about Kuwait and the Gulf states to the world and at the same time provide programs with new approaches; to the concerned leaders, senior officials, academic and researchers.

Management:

Office of International Programs (OIP) was established in 2002 to follow up, evaluate, and maintain the execution of the different programs KFAS has with the international universities and academic institutions around the world, with emphasis on the four major agreements; with Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology in USA; London School of Economics & Political Science, U.K. and Sciences Po, France.  The office looks at these four agreements as its focal cooperative programs.

The above are supervised and maintained by advisory committees comprising of members of KFAS Board as well as external members and with the help of Scientific Advisors.  The advisory committees at KFAS, and their counterparts at the international institutions, form the advisory council, which meets once a year to evaluate the accomplishments and discuss the following year’s activities.
