Overview
Based on the
objectives of Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of
Sciences and to achieve its aims to support different
scientific researches and to encourage scientists and
researchers in Kuwait and in other Arab and Islamic
countries, KFAS allocates prizes for different sciences
within its annual programs. By virtue of these prizes
KFAS records its recognition of the achievements exerted
to raise the cultural level in different fields.
To achieve
this goals, KFAS has allocated different prizes as
follows:

Each year a competition is
held in the field of Kuwait’s history and geography to
enhance the individual's awareness of various aspects of
Kuwait. the competition is announced once a year.
The
Prizes
KFAS will present cash
prizes for the winners of the competition up to K.D.
10,000 and that will be divided into two groups.
-
First group (K.D.6,000), 20 prizes amounting to
K.D. 300 for each winner.
-
Second group (K.D.4,000), 20 prizes amounting to
KD.200 for each winner.

Read (Ikra) competition

The objective of this
competition is to encourage young high school students
in building their reading skills and improving their
scientific criticism. The student should review,
examine, or criticize a book in one of the following
subjects:
The
Prizes
All winners will be awarded
with prize money for every category of the competition
for six governorates::
-
First Place
: K.D. 500
-
Second Place :
K.D. 400
-
Third Place
: K.D. 300
KFAS will also provide the
winners with a certificate. In addition, all
participants will be presented with two tickets to the
Scientific Center.
And also an amount of K.D 300 as a prize for the school
that it's student win's the first place in governorate.
Rules
-
All
participants must be high school students,
-
The
work must be no more than 20 pages on size A4
paper,
-
The
final product should be in Arabic language,
-
The
original book used to produce the work should be
published after 1995,
-
The
number of
posts
do not
increase than two times
for
each school
participating,
-
Attached to the participant form a
photocopy of his/her civil ID.
Methods
and Terms
The board of referees will
congratulate each and every competitor for their hard
work and will judge them on the following criteria:
-
Choice of books,
-
Coordination of ideas and the precision of
contents,
-
The
comprehension of the topic chosen,
-
The
objective of the argument,
-
Clarity of the contestant's opinion of the book,
-
Consolidation of the personal experience of the
contestant.
Submission
The submitted work should
contain:
-
First: Cover
page that should include; Title of the book,
Name of author, publication date, contestant's
name and date of delivery,
-
Second:
Contents that should include:
-
Introduction:
Reasons for choosing the book
-
Method used (Review/Examine/Criticize)
-
Body: Chapters
and method of treatment of the book. The body
should also include your personal opinion and
experience regarding the subject of the book.

Works Cited:
This includes all documents that the contestant
referred to.
The submitted work with the
original book and the application form should be

Pioneer (Reyada) competition

The competition is held in two categories:

Photographic pictures
and Video (DVD),
-
Drawing.
The objective of this
competition is to improve environmental awareness and
motivate people to interact and understand Kuwait
environment.

1. Photographic pictures
and Video (DVD):
The
material submitted should be related to wildlife in
different environmental elements like plants, insects,
reptiles, mammals, fish, seashells, and rocks.

All winners will be granted
a certificate from KFAS with cash prizes as follows:

First Prize
: K.D. 700
-
Second Prize :
K.D. 500
-
Third Prize
: K.D. 300
In addition the KFAS will
present ten awards each of K.D. 200 for outstanding work
that did not win. All participants of the
competition will be presented two tickets for the
Scientific Center.
Rules

The
competition will be available for all age
groups,
-
All submitted
work must be on
Kuwait's environment and each contestant should
hand in no more than three entries in
photographic
category,
-
All
photographic pictures should be 30cm x 40cm in
size,
-
Participant hands only one video
which should not exceed 10 minutes,
-
KFAS has the right to reject any photos or
videos if necessary,
-
KFAS' decision concerning the results are final
and the submitted work will not be returned to
the contestant, successful or otherwise.

2. Drawing:
Goal
of adding
drawing to the
competition is to
maintain and
strengthening the concepts of
environmental conservation
among adolescents,
and
portrayed
through the vision
of the Child's drawing and
arising
it by
graphical
environment
for
the surrounding.

Kuwaiti Student in Olympiads

The Olympiads are organized annually in several science
disciplines, namely, Physics, Chemistry, Biology,
Mathematics, Informatics, Earth Science Olympiad, Junior
Science, Arab
Chemistry & Gulf Physics. It is a joint project between
KFAS and the Ministry of Education. Each participating
country typically sends a delegation of four high school
students and two accompanying teachers appointed by the
Ministry. The
students compete individually and try to maximize their
score by solving a set of problems during the first days
of the competition.
Cultural and recreational events are organized on
the remaining days.
The main goal of the Olympiad is to bring
together talented students from various countries and to
have them share scientific and cultural experiences. The
required number of students allowed to participate is
between 4-6 and leaders are 1-2 with accompanying
observers and visitors. KFAS provides complete financial
support to the appointed team.

Kuwait Annual School
Robot Competition
Activity sector of the ministry of Education
and The Kuwait Foundation for the
advancement of Sciences
(KFAS) in co-operation with Milset Asia
office in Kuwait have launched the
sixth Kuwait
Annual School Robot Competition under the
auspices of His excellency the Minister of
Education. These event takes place from
November 2011 to April 2012.
This competition aims at enhancing the
scientific attitudes students have ,
associating them with filed training to
develop their skills in robot technology.
Also it aims at reinforcing mentors’ skill
and giving them the chance to get acquainted
with the latest technology which is ,in turn
, beneficial to students.
A multitude of 4200 students both girls and
boys participate in this completion where
eliminations are run between school students
, governorates’ school students and finally
between governorates to declare the winners
of the competition of the school year 2012.

Kuwait School Competition in
Industrial projects
The events of the Sixth
Kuwait School Competition in Industrial projects
was launched on the 3rd January 2012.
The Competition is organized by Milset Asia
Office in cooperation with the Sector of School
Activities of ministry of education, the General Inspectorate of
Practical Studies, Kuwait Foundation for the
Advancement of Sciences and Zain. The Competition
aims at the development of the students
technical abilities and the exploration of their
talents and the investment of their free time in
a spirit of manufacturing and collective work.
72 primary schools, 72 intermediate schools and
96 secondary schools will participate in the
Competition and the overall number of
participants amounts to 1344 students.
