KFAS announces winners of Jaber Al-Ahmad Award for Young Researchers for the year 2020

The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences announced today that His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God preserve and protect him, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Foundation approved the decision of the Board of Directors members on the names of the winners of Jaber Al-Ahmad Award for Young Researchers for the year 2020.

The Director General of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences Dr. Khaled Ali Al-Fadhel, said that Dr. Entesar Saad Al-Hetlani, Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the College of Science at Kuwait University won the award in the field of Natural and Mathematical sciences.

As for the prize in the category of Medical Sciences and Allied Health Sciences the prize was awarded to both Dr. Maytham Abbas Khaja, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Kuwait University, and Dr. Wadha Ahmed Al-Fouzan, Associate Professor, in the Department of Bacteriology, Faculty of Medicine, Kuwait University, Dr. Al-Fadhel said.

He added that Dr. Faisal Mukhit Abu Salib, Associate Professor, Department of Political Sciences, College of Social Sciences, Kuwait University won Jaber Al-Ahmad Award for Young Researchers for the year 2020 in the area of Social and Human sciences.

Despite the difficult circumstances and challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the award's arbitration committees have completed their tasks, Dr. Al-Fadhel noted expressing at the same time his gratitude and appreciation to the efforts made by the members of these committees in all stages of the arbitration.

“I wish the winners all the best and to achieve more research success in the future a matter that reflects the bright image of Kuwaiti academics in the fields of science, knowledge and their role in enriching the different areas of science”, Dr. Al-Fadhel concluded.

Established in 1988 in an initiative by His Highness the late Amir of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, May God rest his soul, The Jaber Al-Ahmad Award for Young Researchers (previously Scientific Production Prize) aims to encourage research intensity in Kuwait by recognizing distinguished Kuwaitis holding a PhD in different areas of knowledge.
