The Quiet Emergency: Experiences and Understandings of Climate Change in Kuwait

Oct 24, 2021

Kuwait Program at LSE will launch “The Quiet Emergency: Experiences and Understandings of Climate Change in Kuwait” event , a new report from the LSE Kuwait Programme project 'Sustaining Kuwait in Unsustainable Times' that provides a grounded account of climate change in Kuwait. It examines how the inhabitants of Kuwait (both citizens and non-citizens) understand and experience climate change, drawing on a series of focus groups, a media review, an analysis of the December 2020 Kuwait parliamentary elections, and over 30 interviews with key stakeholders based in Kuwait.

The researchers will discuss the key findings from the report, including the extent to which climate change is impacting daily life, how politicians are addressing the question, the generational divide, and the unequal impact of climate change within Kuwait.

Wednesday 3 November 2021

13:00 – 14:30 UK time
16:00 – 17:30 Kuwait Time
