KFAS Honors the Winners of The Kuwait Programming Hackathon

The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences honored the winners of The Kuwait Programming Hackathon, which was organized in May 2021 with the aim of developing and refining the programming skills of the talented high school students in Kuwait. The hackathon was focused on finding creative solutions to the challenges the various sectors in the country are facing.

The Director General of the Foundation, His Excellency Dr. Khaled A. Al-Fadhel, praised the creative sites and applications that the participants in the hackathon have designed. The participants work aimed at finding practical and interactive solutions to facilitate e-learning, especially during the persistent heath crisis challenges that the county and the whole world are facing due of the current Covid – 19 pandemic.

Dr. Al-Fadhel expressed his hope that the competition would play a role in laying the essential foundations that would help high school students start their university life well prepared with the knowledge, competencies and skills that qualify them to optimize their university years learning experience. He also expressed his wishes to see these solutions implemented and used in the software applications market in the State of Kuwait.

“This hackathon was organized in line with the objectives of KFAS, which focus on motivating all the segments of society to engage in the fields of science, technology and innovation and use the acquired knowledge to support the achievement of the greatest possible benefit for youth, the research community, the private sector and government institutions” The Director General of the Foundation indicated.

“The hackathon, which was organized from April 28 to May 2, 2021, was attended by 110 male and female students, and it was an event intended to keep pace with the Foundation's aspirations to create a thriving environment for innovative digital solutions and to encourage creative talents in Kuwait” Dr. Al-Fadhel added.

Three teams qualified for the final stage of the competition. The final evaluation was conducted and the selection of the first three winners was based on several criteria, including the quality of the program, its distinguished content, design, presentation, as well as the participants presentation and public speaking skills.
