Jun 23, 2020

The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences announced today the extension until August 24 of the period of nomination and submission of applications for the 2020 Kuwait Prize in its five fields as well as for the 2020 Jaber Al-Ahmad Prize for Young Kuwaiti Researchers in its six fields. The decision to extend these deadlines was taken in consideration of the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic and with regard to the special and difficult circumstances that researchers and academics have been going through.

The Kuwait Prize includes five main fields covering Earth sciences, Applied sciences, Economics and Social sciences, Arts and Literature, as well as Arabic and Islamic Scientific Heritage. The prizes of the first four fields are granted to Arab researchers, whereas nomination for the Arab and Islamic Scientific Heritage prize is open for candidates from all nationalities.

Candidates applying to the prize should have an extensive and innovative scientific production, presented and published in the past twenty years, and that has a significant importance that contributes to the progress of the related field. The Foundation accepts the nominations made by universities and scientific bodies, in addition to applications for self-nomination. The submitted applications should include a list of five recommendations: four recommendations from academic or research personalities and one from a scientific institution.

Jaber Al-Ahmad Prize for Young Kuwaiti Researchers is awarded in six areas: Natural and Mathematical sciences, Engineering sciences, Life sciences, Social and Human sciences, Administrative and Economic sciences, as well as Medical and Allied Health sciences, which include pharmacy, community medicine and dentistry.
