Under the auspices of H.E. the Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education, KFAS recognizes Kuwaiti high school students graduating with honors

KFAS recognized and celebrated on Monday 12/6/2017 the high school students graduating with honors. The Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr. Mohammed Abdel Latif al-Fares attended the event to honor the graduates’ achievements and to motivate them towards excellence and creativity. 

The event, which was held at KFAS headquarters, included high school Kuwaiti students graduating with honors in the arts, literature and science branches. Each student was awarded a gold medal, a cash reward, a laptop computer as a gift, and a one year free family admission to the Kuwait Scientific Center.

The initiative, held annually by KFAS, aims to stimulate those distinguished students towards excellence in their future educational endeavors and to make them aware of the potentials and prospects of scientific and technical advancement which they will potentially participate in. This year’s recognition included a gratis five-day field trip to Malaysia to visit the largest incubators of industry and technology, which formed the hallmark of Malaysia and other similar emerging countries known for their technology and IT prowess.

On this occasion, His Excellency Dr. Mohammad Al Fares, Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education, congratulated the graduates and said: "This digital age is constantly changing the future of the economy and its akin professions in an unprecedented manner which was never witnessed by any other age. The pace of change itself dictates rehabilitation of the younger generation to meet the needs of such remarkable age."

 In this context, His Excellency said “the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Higher Education, and higher education institutions in Kuwait have launched various initiatives to enable young people to explore these variables and prepare them to play an active role in sustainable development, which is our main present and future objective and our ultimate strategic challenge that determines the destiny of our country and our society." The Minister thanked KFAS for its unique role in developing and building capacities of young people and rehabilitating their skills and potentials to serve their country in various fields of knowledge. 

"The Director General of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, Dr. Adnan Ahmed Shehab-Eldin, stated: Guided by the directives of His Highness The Amir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Foundation through its departments and various programs is keen to disseminate scientific culture and to provide an enabling environment that encourages the quest for science and knowledge and entices scientific research, both through the foundation itself, or through its affiliate centers. Through this scheme His Highness has always supported young people who are considered "the solid base of the present and the future.” 

Dr. Shehab-Eldin added "The Foundation works on developing youth talents through numerous activities in its various centers, such as Sabah al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity, which KFAS established to embrace young Kuwaitis with talents and creative ideas, as well as the Scientific Center which avails students a summer camp where scientific culture and fun are combined to develop their abilities and broaden their horizons. KFAS also has agreements with renowned international universities to provide students with the opportunity to discover and explore their unique potential, unlock their creative energies to adhere to the scientific approach in research, analysis and problem-solving as basis for community development and induce our society towards creating a knowledge-based economy. " 

Dr. Shehab-Eldin referred to the Foundation's determined quest to develop and improve the science teaching methodology in schools and to disseminate scientific culture and knowledge to contribute to the development of the society and particularly the development of Kuwaiti students. 

He reiterated by saying: "The recognition activity comes within the framework of the Foundation's strategy (2017-2021), which focuses on caring for young people and guiding them towards scientific studies”. He added, “The Foundation has launched in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, the Talent Academy for middle and secondary school students, to create an enabling environment for their talents and intellectual and scientific prowess and distinction. KFAS plans, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, to establish five additional similar academies. This dynamic project has been included in the five-year development plan of the State of Kuwait.”
